A SADDLE CREEK FAQ BROUGHT TO YOU BY yourlastletter AND governments .
We've noticed a wide amount of repetitious questions asked here, so we'd thought we'd put them all into one big FAQ.
1.) Is the interview at the end of An Attempt to Tip the Scales real?
No, it's not even Conor talking. It is Todd Baechle from The Faint.
When Oberst was putting the CD's package together, he agonized over writing liner notes that would explain what he was trying to convey. He opted against it as being too pretentious, and instead included a nearly 6-minute scripted faux "interview" performed by Todd Baechle and former Lullaby for the Working Class member Matt Silcock. The Oberst character answers questions from a smooth-talking FM radio DJ, who asks about the meaning of the CD's title, its symbolism, and Oberst's depression.
"Some of the answers in the interview are honest," the real Oberst said, "but a bunch is bullshit, mixing truth with falsehood and making it blend together in a surreal sort of way. It's not intended to be a real interview, but some people think it is."
2.) What is the book at the beginning of A Spindle, a Darkness, a Fever, and a Necklace called?
Mitchell is Moving by Marjorie Weinman Sharmat.
3.) Is Conor on drugs?
4.) Does Conor have bad teeth?
5.) Is Tim Kasher awesome?
6.) Do you have a certain ____ song?
Yes, governments and yourlastletter own every Saddle Creek song known to man. So stop posting and ask them.
7.) Is Desaparecidos broken up?
No, they're not. They've been too busy to work on their new album now, but they'll do it eventually.
Plans called for recording some Desa tracks while Oberst was in town prior to Friday night's tour launch, and recording more on the road and this summer. "We don't want to say we're putting out a record," he said, "but we're working on it. I miss playing with those guys and rocking out and screaming. It's not something I can do all the time, but I do enjoy it."

8.) Is Cursive broken up?
NO, YOU FAG. GOD (TIM) SAID HIMSELF THAT CURSVE WAS ON A HIATUS.
hiatus: A gap or interruption in space, time, or continuity; a break.
With The Good Life scheduled to tour through this winter and beyond, and with no plans for Cursive in the immediate future, word began surfacing that Cursive's hiatus had become permanent. Kasher was quick to dispel the rumors.
"I love those guys too much to not do it anymore," he said of Cursive. "Right now I feel good about getting away from it and just working on different stuff. I guess what's gotten harrowing about the rumors is that we refuse to say when we'll do it again; it seems too loose-ended. Saying 'We'll get back together a year from now' is too much of a deadline for us. One of these days we'll get back together."

Desaparecidos is the Spanish word for "The Disappeared." For thousands of Argentine families, this word has become a symbol of a long harrowing nightmare.
In a coup on March 24, 1976, a military junta seized power in Argentina and went on a campaign to wipe out left-wing terrorism with terror far worse than the one they were combating. Between 1976 and 1983 - under military rule - thousands of people, most of them dissidents and innocent civilians unconnected with terrorism, were arrested and then vanished without a trace.

Tim: Yeah. At the time there was this book that I was reading by V. S. Naipaul. I was intrigued that the British came over to India and forced everyone to learn this penmanship. It wasn't really worth anything. In music, it's like forcing it on them like a discipline.
